The objective of the Elkmont church of Christ is to be faithful to Christ in all He teaches. He tells us that we can be true disciples only when we abide in the teaching of His word (John 8:31-32).
We believe the Old Testament to be inspired and written for our learning (2 Tim. 3:16-17; Rom. 15:4). We study it in our Bible classes and use it in our preaching. However, we recognize that it was fulfilled and replaced at the cross (Col. 2:14).
We uphold the New Testament as the covenant (testament) through which Christ directs His people today (Heb. 1:1-2; 8:6-7). It is our guide in all matters of faith and practice.
We do not adhere to nor accept as authoritative any man made creed. Each member must accept individual responsibility as a disciple to study and apply the teachings of Jesus (John 8:31-32; 2 Tim. 2:15).
We are confident that if each individual is guided solely by the word of God, unity, not confusion will result.
